EQIPD and PAASP, together with colleagues from the QUEST Center and the Global Preclinical Data Forum, led a discussion on how to help funders and grant applicants align on research rigor expectations and avoid funding of research of unknown quality.
We reviewed lessons learned from publicly funded programs (LADDER, GOT-IT, DECIDE) from the US and Germany that focused directly or indirectly on decision-enabling research. A summary of the discussion will be published soon.
We also discussed the use of the “Research Quality Transparency” Tool and the needs and requirements of funding organisations related to its implementation. The important outcome is that it several funders agreed to advocate the use of this tool and will encourage scientists to apply the tool during their next funding calls!
Specific details will follow soon.
